What are the hours of service?
Each of our branches has its schedule:

What documents do I need to become a member?
To join our credit union you must bring the following documents:
- Photo identification (License or Passport)
- $50.00 for initial deposit
What is the monthly fee for checking and savings accounts?
Regular share (savings) accounts carry no monthly fee. In the checking account there will be no monthly charges as long as you maintain a minimum balance of five hundred dollars ($500.00). If you do not have this balance then a charge of four dollars ($4.00) will be applied monthly.
Do I have to maintain a minimum monthly balance?
Yes, a minimum balance of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) is required to keep your account active. If your balance falls below $25.00, you will have an outstanding balance to cover.
When will direct deposit be available to my account?
By activating direct deposit, your money will be available immediately. You don’t have to wait, you don’t have to go to the branch to deposit. It is very convenient!
Can I have my paycheck deposited directly into my Credit Union account?
Yes. Simply contact the Credit Union or the Payroll Department at your job to start receiving your direct deposit. You must have the VAPR route and transit number, 221581764, and your member’s account number.
Do I have to close my account at the Credit union if I quit my job or am relocated?
Definitely not. Your membership with VAPR Federal Credit Union does not expire. Once you become a member of the Credit union, you will remain a member forever.
Can my relatives be members of the Credit union?
Yes. Members of your immediate family (Parents, children, siblings and spouses) are eligible to be members. Contact a Credit union representative for more details. In addition, any person with US citizenship or resident of Puerto Rico can be a member of VAPR Federal Credit Union . Certain restrictions apply.
How can I check the balance of my MasterCard credit card?
- Contacting the CALL CENTER at 787-900-0200.
- Calling 787-281-8444, to verify your balance, and other automated services.
- Through the MY COOP CARD application, where you can check balances, view your transactions and account statements, block or unblock your card and schedule your card payment, among other services.
Can I verify my account after business hours?
Yes. You have many ways to access your accounts. Using the Tele-Coop system, Internet Banking or our VAPR Mobile Banking application. These services are FREE and allow you to access your account information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Where can I use my ATM card?
We belong to a wide network, with ATM’s all over the island. You can use any machine that has the logos on the back of your debit card. In the Coop24 network, transactions are free.
How long do I have to wait after joining to apply for a loan?
There is no waiting period. You can become a member, apply for a loan and have your request answered within 24 hours. Fill out our loan application to start the process.
Can I pay my loan over the phone?
To pay your loan by phone you have three options:
- Communicating with the Call Center at 787-900-0200 where an authorized representative will proceed to register your payment.
- Paying with branded debit card or credit card.
- Through the ATH Mobile application.
Do you have branches outside of Puerto Rico?
We do not have branches outside of Puerto Rico, our four (4) branches are located in the metropolitan area and southern area of the island. Still, you can use the “Shared Branch” network around different participating credit unions all over the world.
What payment methods can I use to pay my loans?
We offer various payment methods for your convenience, such as electronic payment, automatic transfers, ATH Móvil, payroll discounts or by visiting one of our branches.
Are funds in partner accounts insured?
Yes, all of our partners’ funds are insured by the NCUA up to $250,000.
What products do you offer?
VAPR FCU offers Share and Savings Accounts, Certificates of Deposits, IRA Accounts and Checking Accounts. Go the home page and browse our main menu.
What types of loans do you offer?
VAPR FCU offers personal loans, new and used car loans, processes transfers from another institution; and we also carry the VAPR Mastercard, Reserve Checks and Credit Lines.
When am I eligible to renew my personal loan?
You may request the renewal of your loan six months after its origination.
What services do you offer?
At VAPR’s branches you can buy your registration tag (“marbete”), manager’s checks, money orders, make your utilities’ payments, ATH Móvil service and website, Telecoop and various ATMs in different branches. We have the Coop Circuit “Shared Branch” and Coop 24 service.
Who is VAPR?
VAPR Federal Credit Union is a non-profit federal credit union founded in 1950 and organized to provide our members with low-cost financial services. It is regulated by the federal agency “National Credit Union Administration”, commonly known as the NCUA.
